About Me

Brenna Chia, personally

I'm a Taiwanese-Chinese American creative, daughter of two immigrants from Taiwan and Korea. When my parents immigrated over to the United States, all they had were the dreams of a better life in the U.S. and memories of their home. But, not a word of the Western language. They went on to work in restaurants until they eventually took over our relative's Chinese restaurant in Indiana.

In my earliest memories, Mandarin Chinese was the only language I spoke. Before I learned any English, my parents sent me to pre-school. I was a shy girl and with my broken English, I kept to myself and was bullied a lot. But, I quickly picked up more vocabulary as I listened to others around me.

My sister and I grew up seeing our parents only on weekends and major holidays. Most of the time, our mother and father were working. Even then, they forced us to study hard and get good grades. My days were filled memorizing the multiplication tables and working through math and English workbooks outside of school.

These experiences taught me resilience and gave me the purpose to carry on my parents' struggle. I also learned to adapt quickly to new environments. The best way to learn is to try it myself.

Brenna Chia, professionally

I'm an Asian American creative with a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing and a Minor in Design and Innovation from Purdue University. My main areas of interest are social media/digital marketing and analysis.

In previous roles, I utilized Qualtrics to create amazing customer experiences (CX) for clients. I also ran social media/digital marketing campaigns for non-profit organizations and local businesses to raise brand awareness and increase engagement. Some examples include the Alzheimer's Association, Partners Relief & Development, and Escape Velocity Brewing.

Outside of professional work, I run my own food blog on Instagram with engagement rates of approximately 30%. I also managed an Etsy shop where I sold crocheted bucket hats and earned around a 70% net profit margin over two months.

Recently, I've been dipping my feet in creating user-generated content (UGC). Some brands I've worked with include MUSH overnight oats, Bausch & Lomb, and Grammarly.

As a child of immigrants, I value and practice a strong work ethic. My supervisors described me as a dependable, problem-solving individual who is eager to learn more constantly.
